'The Slender Man' - A Classic.

Firstly, this was so much fun to make.

I'd seen the Photoshop Phriday contest ([link]) where people took video games and made Penguin Classic style book covers for them. Now, playing on that old Slender Man mythos, I decided to make a Pegnuin Classics cover for that. Essentially, this was my first real chance to muck about with Photoshop and it's visual wizardry.

The crooked borders and very defined colour changes are all design choices, as if any of you know the stylings of the Slender Man, they all seem to be in a very avant-garde style of Lovecraft-meets-Burton semi-realism. And it can be utterly creepy as times.

"Victor Surge" of course was the creator of the Slender Man back in an old Photoshop contest on Something Awful. And I was at a loss whether to use the title "The Slender Man" or "Marble Hornets", after the infamous viral YouTube series. But I decided to stick with Slender Man, ambiguity is key!

Overall, this took about an hour and a quarter to complete, the only template was another Penguin Classics book which I had to use for the black and white border on the bottom half, otherwise, the image in the cover itself is completely made by myself. Which isn't bad for a quasi-acceptable piece of work.. hell, it might even be pseudo-acceptable!

For those who think the figure itself looks too rigid and stiff, that's just the Slender Man character coming through, not my horrendous drawing ability. :V
